Amatyst Dragons scales at birth are a very deep purple. As it matures they become more and more luimsecint, until they take on a eerie purple glow when reaching a mature adult age. Amatyst Dragons tend to keep to them selves, and are amoge the less terretorial of dragon kinds. Amatyst Dragons have a keen interesset in knowledge, and many undergo long quests in search of a particular body of knowledge. Therefor Amatyst dragons tend to be well studied.
Amatyst Dragons have a very low tolerance for stupidity. They are very fond of riddels, and enjoy playing them with unsupecting bypassers. Unlike Copper Dragons, they can be a very good sport if the one they find can hold his game for at least a while. Knowledge have as much worth to them as gold and gems, and they prize books almost as much as they prize magic items. They enjoy collecing al kinds of magic and historical items.
Amatyst Dragons have no special care for the world around them, and if left to their mystirous studies, they will leave the surronding contryside alone.
When in combat Amatyst Dragons prefere to keep distants and soften op foes with there potent magical powers, and Cone of Confusion. If this doesn't work, they will make a few swoops with there Cone of Acid, before closing into melee. If they are overpowered, they will creat a few magical diversions, retreat and regroup. Many adventures have made the mistake of thinking a Amatyst Dragon for defeated, only to encounter traps and enchanted guardians whereever they sat there foot.
It is very rare for Amatyst Dragons to bond, and those who usaslly do, choose a person of lore or magic.
