So, when we are having battles and stuff, how do we show we are being modest, and honest?

Where do the status points come in?

Well battle is something you have to make for yourself, the stats are their so you can use them if you are to battle against each other. Its more or less unrealistic that an entire school of students walks through 4 years rubbing against each other, without getting mad at each other at some point.. Some even get enemies and stuff, and that sometimes result in a fight. Or you can as a teacher in your classes ask them to fight, though not everyone does it.

The modest and honest part I don't think I understand. is it your character? cause then you show it by writing feelings adn thoughts, expressions and all that which makes a long and really good post.

The status point I'm not sure I get either? is it the combat system described in a post up in information? cause that is a system made for those who want some kind of system to make sure, and make a more or less D&D fight.

Otherwise you can fight without useing the system, but by using your common sense and imagination. Then you use the stats as guidelines, and if one has 20 in strengh he gives quite a punch. and the punched would proberly more or less fall down to the ground and caugh if it were in the stomach.
And so forth and so further that way.

I am almost possitivily I have not answered your question correct, but then I will ask you to be a little more specific. I am known to be more or less stupid.. ^^

Ok, the the honesty part, is when somone strong throws a punch, the opponent will have the temptation to dodge, are counter attack. Or they will say they are too tough, and nothing will happen to them. This would make it impossible for an opponent to be defeted, and cause an extreamly long battle.

if you make an attack, you describe how you make this attack, and your opponent counters with a defense and maybe another attack.

You should never allow yourself to describer that you actually hit the person, with the exception of spells there you will need to detail the effect of the spell and the opponent can react to that..

All spells always hit the oppoenent, but damage will only be done by the will off the opponent.

If you feel an opponent is doing that you should send a PM to the admin, and he will take affair, of course it is impossible for 1 person to keep avoiding damage forever, one do get tired and easier to hit. (this is something one should keep in mind too).

Battle have to be fair, and you cannot win everytime. If people realy starts to PowerPlay in battles (like being invincible), a die roller will be implementet and will be used in any battle, but Im hoping that people will try to keep realism in mind when battling.

Cool, so kind of like what dragn and I did in the water fight. We both allowed each other to take damage, and would go from there. The water fight, would that be a good example of a battle?

Actually.. no, it would be a very bad example. Its nothing when its just water, and you know each other in real life, but if that were a "real" fight with weapons you may never descripe anything about the other person he has not yet described himself. I will try and write an example of to people fighting without weapons.

She is called Debra, and he is called bob and they have a fight for some reason. I will not begin fight just take a peace of it.
bob has just swung an arm out to hit debra in the head as he is a strong guy.

Debra felt a drop of sweat running down her cheek as she had jumped away from his last attack. The sun baked down upon them and for the second time this day she sent a pleasent and thankful thought to her teacher for working so much with her agility. Her red hair glinsed in the sun tucked together in that ponytail of hers while she jumped up, leaned forward in the air streching her right leg trying to hit that pretty and handsome face of his. she would never admit it if anyone ever asked her but she had a small crush on him, and still she hated just the sight of him. It couldn't be explained but she just felt like hugging and hitting him at the same time, everytime she met him. This time she just had to hit him, it would please her so much, as he had crossed the line and went to far this time. He had to pay.
(Only describe the attack and the attemp of hitting. It would be much easier to just say you hit and then desribe, and it would make the post a lot bigger. But that is powerplay and everyone hates a powergamer. Instead try to take feelings, reasons, the sorrounding and such things into the post making it bigger and more intruqing to read.)

Bob cursed her when she leaped out of his reach. It almost looked like she was smirking at him, though he could not be sure with the suns glare in his eyes. Why was it she should be so annoying. He was a noble and she was a nothing but a commoner. And still she always wanted to fight him, like she had a chance against all those trainers that stood behind him, and had taught him all those years. She was nothing but a mere peasent and always she had to scream at him and try to hit him, saying something about him being arrogant. hah. He had never been arrogant, and he doubted the girl knew what the word ment with those clothes she wore which clearly told their tale of no education at all.
Suddenly the a shadow fell over the sun and he looked up seeing a foot coming closer much to fast for him to dogde it. He had been careless, he knew she we a splendid acrobatic with an agility and dex that made the most of the other students envy her. She was the best in her class, and he had acted carelessly. he jumped to the side, so his face didn't get hurt, as he could not afford any blood in his eyes disturbing his vision. That would be the same as defeat. How many times had the fighter teacher here at the academy not told him. "Never let your face get hurt, as nothing shall cloud your vision. if your not using a helmet that face is the most presious possesion you have."
He could almost here the harsh scolding voice as her kick hit him on the shoulder. A slight crack sounded in the silent arena as all her weight came on his shoulder which it wasn't strong enough to bear.
he bit his lips but could not hold out a small growl when it happened. Never had he felt so much pain as the personal teachers back home always had made sure he didn't get hurt and even the fighting teacher had a leash on himself fighting the students making sure they wouldn't get seriously hurt. but Debra had never known about silk gloves and surely never worn them.
he used his right arm there were free and unhurt to slam towards her thigh as she was vunreable now. He could only hope that would even the odds a bit.
(Here some of the bagground comes in, and it is clear that they know each other and have played together many times before. But you can surely use anothers background against them as bob does with debra, though never use anything that your character cannot know. Bob knows how she is by looking at her clothes, her hands, the way she talks that all says wether your high up and rich or not. Maybe he knows because she has told him in a verbal fight or something it cannot be known to us, but he doesn't use anything else that she would not have told him, and he would not know. Its okay to use background, oppenions, thoughts, feeling tetc, to make your post interresting to read for the person you play with. and the more interresting you make it, the more people wants to play with you also on other boards. )

That is how a "true" fight would happen (more or less) and I do not say that its required to write an entire novel as that is up to the persons abbilities, but the guide its taken from (which I wrote myself so yes it is very okay to take it^^) is for beginners that knows nothing, and there are a lot of advice about how to make a post.
